Back to School Time!

August 3, 2017

It’s that wonderful and exciting time of year! With the arrival of August comes the anticipation of a new school year! It’s back to school time! In the spirit of the season I want to invite you to join us this year as we do preschool and play at home! Throughout the year I’ll share 16 units discovering everything from weather to bugs and the zoo!  Each unit includes 8 days of activities (giving your family a “flex” day) along with book suggestions, printables, science experiments, etc. Today I’m sharing the first full unit with you for {FREE.} When you download the unit you’ll get:

  • an introduction
  • an overview
  • a resource list
  • activity descriptions
  • sight word flash card
  • a science experiment lab report
  • sight word practice color, cut, and paste activity
  • illustrated phonemic awareness cards
  • letter of the week outlines
  • illustrated Bible memory verse cards

The great thing about the units is that each component could stand alone and you could easily adapt it to fit your needs best. Use it as it is, add, or take away it’s a perfect plan to introduce your little to concepts to get them kindergarten ready. Check out our scope and sequence for the year here (scope and sequence = what we’ll do and when)

We’ll begin the first week of September to allow us to fully enjoy and soak up every last ounce of Summer. I want to be intentional about loving these little years and enjoying them to the fullest. We’re doing preschool activities because I want to have my oldest kindergarten ready but mostly because they’re FUN! If doing preschool/kindergarten prep loses it’s joy we’ll need to reevaluate and change course. If you’re joining us this year it’s important that you provide yourself with that kind of grace too. Don’t aim for perfection, aim for having fun and giving your little exposure. Let them learn at their own pace, if they become frustrated or discouraged use your intuition to know when to stop and take a break. Each skill that we work on is solely with the intention of exposure- not mastery. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Let me do the planning and prep work. Download the units as we go along and use them to build great memories learning together!

with love,

Carla
