Our Favorite Farm Books

November 6, 2019

There is no shortage of great books when it comes to a farm theme! To make life easier I’ve curated a list that includes titles for everyone- for your little littles and your big littles alike! From The Little Blue Truck to Winter on the Farm these are the best of the best when it comes to classic picture books in the farm theme!

This is most definitely a classic! How can you not love the little blue truck!? It ties in cooperative skills, friendship, and all our favorite farm animals!  [In the Friendly Farmer Learn + PLAY Calendar we use the book as inspiration for a special snack!]

I love Mrs. Wishy Washy’s zeal for cleanliness, however, her animals do not! This silly story is sure to make your littles giggle reading the adventurous mishaps of Mrs. Wishy Washy’s cow, pig, and goose!

It’s no secret that we LOVE the Little House books. This series was created as an adaptation to the chapter books. The adorable illustrations make our favorite Laura Ingalls adventures come to life! In this story we see Almanzo Wilder (Laura’s future husband) on his family farm in the winter time.

This book is LOADS of fun as you travel through the point of view of all kinds of Farm animals! This is one you will definitely want to borrow from the library or maybe even purchase to keep!

Farming by Gail Gibbons

As always Gail Gibbons delivers! This non fiction picture book is a perfect way to introduce facts all about farms, farm equipment, and animals.

The illustrations of this story are absolutely stunning. This cozy book is a great one for both littles and bigger littles alike!

Sandra Boynton makes reading so much fun. This whimsical story of farm animals having fun is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

We really love the simplicity of this story. Margaret Wise Brown is and excellent author of other great books such as Good Night Moon and A Home in the Barn.
