Juggling lessons for all three of my sweet crew is no small feat. I really take my time before deciding whether or not to add in more to our days. They’re already so full.

However, when I saw Lily (@thehybridhome ) share about her Friday notebooking I was inspired! It’s such a simple way to culminate the week of learning. I set out artifacts from our week- LA curriculum, map work, history reading, science projects, read aloud, activities, Bible study…literally just set it on the table. They use the things set out as visual reminders of what they’ve learned and in their notebooks they draw/color/paint a picture and write about at least one thing they learned or enjoyed learning about this week. It didn’t take long and was easy to weave into our day. I’m excited to add this rhythm to our weeks
and watch their notebooks grow. 💗

The hardest part of starting is…just getting started.

Full Truth: last night I just wasn’t feeling it. We had blood sugar levels all. over. the. place. His dexcom accidentally fell off (🥴😭 iykyk) and I was tired after a full day. The last thing I wanted to do was create a pep rally of construction paper, chalkboard designs, curated learning shelves and a festive breakfast to launch our new study. The old me TOTALLY would have been all about it, but the surrendered, juggling mama I am today just can’t. So you know what I did do? I went to bed. 😴

This morning I pulled out as many space books as I could find and set them up for display. I printed a new set of bookmarks to color, grabbed my pre-made playdough card set and declared today the SUPER FUN FIRST DAY OF SPACE LEARNING! ✨ …and guess what?! My kids totally geeked out! We were playing library AND doing a science project?!? Goodness, I love those precious people of mine.

In case you’re feeling lost in the scroll of all the beautiful flat-lays and elaborately curated shelves (which, hear me, I LOVE!!) and feeling a little less than, I’m here to tell you that for every one of those there are 100 of the rest of us just doing the best we can faithfully showing up day after day. 💗 Your kids just want YOU…and maybe some books 😉

Hearing giggles from their room or seeing them snu

Hearing giggles from their room or seeing them snuggle up all together to read books makes my heart melt. They scheme and dream up ideas together and create elaborate (messy) pretend play. It’s just the best.

Our journey toward room sharing for all three of our crew wasn’t without its bumps but now that they’re all together and LOVING it, I’m so glad we did it. I can feel the window on this season closing faster than I want it to. While they’re all still so little I’m just so grateful for this together time.

Are there times when it’s a little inconvenient or when they squabble? Yes, but the bond and friendship they share is a treasure. Learning to honor each other and respect each persons space is a valuable life skill they’ll carry beyond these years at home. It’s a humble little room but it’s one filled with love.💕

Shared my heart and LOVE for hymn study in my stor

Shared my heart and LOVE for hymn study in my stories today. I’ll add it to a highlight because, while I’m not typically pushy about ideas, this is one I whole-hearted endorse and encourage. PLUS, it’s super easy to add to your day.

The depth of theology in the lyrics of old hymns is powerful - especially coming from the mouths of our children. I will always treasure the nights in late July this past year putting the children to bed and singing with them. I can still hear their hearts sing out “Jesus doeth all things well” as we finish All the Way My Savior Leads Me and it brings me to tears just about every time.

I pray the rich truths set to melody will be established in their minds and hearts. I pray that the words would comfort and encourage them as they walk with the Lord. The ministry of music is such a blessing. 💗
