I had extra time and head space to work through curriculum and plans for our new school year. I even snapped a few extra pictures to write out a blogpost on our choices. Things are definitely going to look a little different- teaching all 3, navigating special needs, starting at a co-op to name a few adjustments. But I also get excited thinking about all the things we’ll get to do, explore, and learn! I am so glad I get to be their teacher. 💗

Full transparency, it’s taken me longer to get motivated for going “back to school” this year. All things considered, this whole Summer hasn’t been a walk in the park, but my heart feels light and excited thinking about the rhythm our lessons bring and getting to include everyone this year. 💗 I have no expectation that it will be easy but I have every confidence that it’s worth it.

Our days are currently characterized by highs and lows- not just blood sugar but a heart status too. It is only the Lord who sustains me. If I were left to me I’d be pile crumbled on the floor driven and tossed by the events of each day. It’s in these times that we really see where our hope rests. It doesn’t mean we don’t have highs and lows but it does mean between waves we know where to find our footing. As I stand on solid rock I actively (sometimes verbally) choose over and over to count it all joy both the cheerful mornings of lego play and the anxious heart cries when I don’t know what to do. May my heart reveal His strength in my weakness. May this journey bring a blessing. 💗

Blindsided. No one in our family. No one in our e

Blindsided.

No one in our family. No one in our extended family. No one has it. It wasn’t on our radar at all. Friday afternoon, following a fun week filled to the brim with activities and adventures together, we received a diagnosis for our boy that we never would have imagined. Our lives have now been changed forever. This coming less than 3 months after receiving a separate diagnosis that we were still processing and working through.

There is a lot on my heart and mind. Too many panic thoughts to write clearly just yet. But it would be silly of me to carry on in this space as if nothing has changed because the truth is, it has. There will always be a “before” and an “after” this diagnosis- Rutledge will not remember but Joshua and I will. We remind ourselves often, our boy is going to be ok. We are learning all the ways to care for him and we are confident the Lord has big plans in store for this guy! When my heart and mind is ready to share more I will because the Lord has given us opportunity to see His amazing grace in a more tangible way than we have ever been stretched to see.

For now please pray for our whole family as we adjust to a new normal. We’re in the hospital still but hope to be headed home some time soon.
