Christmas Read Alouds You'll LOVE!

Christmas Read Alouds You'll LOVE!

Christmas time is so wonderfully special. There are a million ways to make it magical. One of them is with your read aloud time! Here are a few of our favorites from over the years and one we're trying new this year!

The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street

by Karina Yan Glaser

Hands down one of our most FAVORITE series! We adore the Vanderbeekers! This endearing Christmas story will have your family falling in love with them too. Good news is, there's a whole series to follow this one set in December.

The Best Worst Christmas Pageant Ever

by Barbara Robinson

This one is a classic. Fair warning, I did change a few of the words but it was easily adapted making this one perfect for read aloud. Don't let that deter you from the sweetness of this story and the ending will likely have you teary eyed.

The Family Under the Bridge

by Natalie Savage Carlson

This is another classic Christmas story. Your heart will be warmed reading of this precious family and their bond together through difficulty during the holiday season. The ending will have you smiling with such a happy heart for this family and their new friend Armand!

The Light at Tern Rock

by Julia L. Sauer

This was our Christmas read aloud last year and while it took a bit for the kids to get into it, I think they really enjoyed the story. This adventurous tale of life in a lighthouse will definitely pique some curiosity. Suspense builds as readers hope for Ronnie and his aunt to get home in time for Christmas.

Kirsten's Surprise

by Janet Beeler Shaw

All of the American Girl Christmas stories are well written and concise. They each beautifully tie in history and traditions. They're not long read aloud's but they're sweet ones and perfect for the holiday season. You could even do a "tour" of sorts reading each of the girls' Christmas books.

The True Gift

by Patricia MacLachlan

This is our book pick of this year. I haven't read it yet, so I can't give an honest review but it's been recommended by a friend so we'll give it a try and I'll report back.
