I have seen this idea on the internet so many times over the last week, I KNEW it would be the perfect project for Spring Break! I can personally attest that these truly are so easy to make! It's a great confidence building project for beginners. I did tell my girls several times over that the cutting is the hardest part. It's always important but especially for this project, it's very important to cut carefully. It makes all the difference in the final product!

This project is also great because you can easily just use scrap fabric you have saved up- no need to run out to buy new fabric unless you want to.

You will want two different pieces of fabric. One will be the interior and one will be the outside of the egg. We used this pattern and cut out 2 sets (one for each fabric.)

To start you'll set aside the full egg shape and work with the two sets of egg halves. Put right sides (the sides you want to see/with the design) together and sew just along the top straight edge of the egg half.

Then press the seam flat, fold it over and iron it down so that the egg half has the right sides facing out.

Then stack the egg pieces in this order:
-wrong side of interior fabric facing up
-right side of exterior fabric facing up
-bottom half of egg interior facing up
-top half of egg interior facing up
You'll want to make sure the two halves overlap at least a little to create a pocket.

Then sew around all edges of the egg. Trim it and turn it inside out! That's it! You've made a fabric egg!
