The Fall season began yesterday but it certainly did NOT feel like it. Here in South Carolina we know that Fall is more of a state of mind than a cooler temperature season. I'd bet it won't be until later October before we feel the temperatures drop. Until then you can find us HAPPILY celebrating the Fall state of mind with all things apples, pumpkins, and all the cozy spiced scents! One of my favorite things to do with our crew is crafts. Little art projects are a GREAT way for us to come together regardless of where everyone is at in their different skill sets. Age doesn't matter.
In fact, just this weekend I was visiting friends in North Carolina and we had the happiest time together making bead bracelets. Anyway, if you're looking for something to do together, I highly recommend doing some sort of creative activity. Here are a few of our favorites from over the years and we'll be adding more! I'll try my best to add them as we do them!
This one and the pumpkin painting are both part of my Elements of Art: Space mini unit. There both really easy to create AND they're a lot of fun!
We also really love to use construction paper for crafts too. I wonder if your family is similar, do you have a child that LOVES to dream up all sorts of construction paper creations? I have to ration out our construction paper sometimes. (haha!)
This little craft is part of my Playful Pumpkins Learn + PLAY Calendar and that's were we originally learned about them. However, from there, my girls have made paper pumpkins every single Fall since then. They are super duper simple to make and aren't they SO cute!?
If you have little ones you may be in the more cautious stage of crafts. This one is pretty safe using dot markers to make fun pumpkin shapes!
Another good one for littles is this sensory safe pumpkin painting. Two of my kids were not big fans of the texture of paint. Then of course, I have one who is constantly wearing paint- haha! Isn't that the way it is?! This activity is another one you can find in the Playful Pumpkins Learn + PLAY Calendar.
The last one I thought I'd share is great for September especially. If you're exploring all things apples, apple picking, or just looking for a gentle paint craft you will love this one! We sliced apples in half one direction (vertically) and then another direction (horizontally) and noticed the difference in the prints they would make (happy hint: if you cut it in half horizontally you'll discover a STAR in the center of the apple!)
These are really fun to use to make tea towels. Just be sure to use acrylic paint. It doesn't wash off like a washable paint will. Stamp the apples in a fun design and you have the CUTEST tea towels to use or even to give as a fun teacher gift! This activity was originally part of my All About Apples Learn + PLAY Calendar!
If you're like us welcoming the Fall state of mind, I bet these crafts will be lots of fun for you too! I'll be sure to share more as we create this fall!
with love,
