February is the SWEETEST month and we are here for it! Every year I get excited to think of ways to incorporate Valentine’s Day into our learning. This grammar sorting activity is a perfect example! The file includes the mailbox net so you can make the cutest mailboxes for sorting too!
This month it was easily to lean heavily into reading/phonics/language arts. I have a fun candy heart math set too but admittedly there currently isn’t a whole lot of math in this collection. If you’re looking for math fun, the good news is that I’ll have two brand new math sets after Valentine’s Day. They’ll be perfect for finishing out the month with something new and fun!
If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with friends, I added several activities that would be great for a heart day party! Valentine BINGO, Heart, Heart, BREAK! sight word game, and of course, brand new joke VALENTINES!
Heart, Heart, BREAK! is a sight word game that will make review competitive in the most fun way! It’s played best with 2-3 players but can include more when you add more cards. The file includes sight word levels for learners from pre-kindergarten through third grade.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of this month’s collection so here it is! When you’re learning and playing together at home be sure to snap a picture and tag me on your social media! I love getting to see your activities in action!
Every month we look forward to coloring and creating new bookmarks to track our reading through the month! This cuteness this month is precious with valentine themed bookmarks!
Making fine motor skill practice can be tricky when it comes to coloring and tracing with a pencil. This activity is intended to make the practice into a fun game. Players will roll a number cube and based on whether it’s an odd or even number, the player will either color or trace a heart. After 10 rolls he/she will add up and compare what go rolled the most!
Back in 2017 when I started creating resources I made activities for toddlers and preschoolers. I began making monthly Learn + PLAY Calendars with small, no prep activities which later developed into the Learn + PLAY Calendars as you know them today! I decided to go back and revamp those calendars and bring them to the Learn + PLAY Club! Each day has a small activity for little ones to do building a foundation for skills they’ll develop later. Activities include things like singing songs, counting shapes around the house, and more. The calendar also includes images of some of our favorite story and board books.
I’m REALLY excited to share this one with you! Club members get this page created personalized just for them! The file includes instructions on how to get the activity made personalized for your crew!
kinesthetic learning is BIG especially for my son. I created these alphabet movement cards to help us sounding out and reading CVC words. We’ll pull cards to spell different words and say the sound for each letter as we do the movement on that card as well. These cards would also be fun for practicing letter sounds together with movement!
This one is just for FUN! No reading skills necessary! Practice cutting skills and build your own individual BINGO boards! This is such a fun and festive way to celebrate and PLAY! Perfect for a kids table at your Valentine’s Day celebrations! We LOVE it and hope you will too!
Choose from the different spelling pages to practice and review tricky words. This file includes five different practice sheets: Spelling Hearts, Spell It, Sign it, Build/Cover/Spell, Scrabble Spelling, and Rainbow Write.
I also share how I EASILY come up with individualized spelling lists for each of my crew!
The best things about these emergent reader books is that each book is personalized just for you! Some children are ready for more or less than others. This is a great tool for beginning writers and readers! The file includes three books: This Candy Heart Says, Valentine’s Day is Sweet, and All the Things I Love.
This adorable shape book can be whatever you make of it! Add blank pages and make it open ended, use the lines to write a story, use the lines to retell a favorite valentine or baking adventure book, the sky’s the limit! It’s too cute and your learners are sure to LOVE it too!
Upper and lowercase letter discrimination can be tricky. This cute Valentine themed game helps your learner practice discerning between the letters as he/she searches through a heart filled with both cases. If doing both cases is too challenging, look for the same game in the Sweet Celebration Learn + PLAY Calendar with only lowercase letters.
Take those tricky contractions and make them fun! Each letter has a coordinating stamp with its contraction. To make this activity more durable I laminated the “envelopes” and used velcro to attach the stamps. It’s such a cute game that will be perfect for practice and review! Add it to dramatic play to give an intentional take to play!
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with these hilarious coloring valentines! This set includes 10 different designs in black and white format to make printing easy and coloring FUN! If you’re looking for more valentines be sure to check out these sets too:
There’s even more February fun waiting on my New Resource page! Be sure to hop over and check it out! Let me know what you think! Which are you most excited to download and get using!?
