May is here and so are the brand NEW Learn + PLAY Club activities!
May can sort of run either direction- maybe for you it’s super full or maybe like us, everything (music lessons, sports, Bible study) has slowed down or stopped for the Summer. We are finding ourselves with a wonderful amount of extra margin in May because all of our “extra” things ended in April. We’ll embrace a gentle pace for May and include LOTS of outside time while our weather stays mild. Summers in SC get famously hot. 🙂
As usual I wanted to give a run down of what’s new for May. In addition to these activities you can anticipate at least 3 more coming in the next week or so. One of those being May’s Picture Book Parade! This one will be extra fun with a book giveaway connected to the release! More details on that later!
For now, here's a quick look at the new activities for May 2024!
The best things about these emergent reader books is that each book is personalized just for you! Some children are ready for more or less than others. Fill in the child’s name (of have them write their name) on the cover page. Be sure to color and decorate that cover page! The handwriting line is for the child to practice copying, strengthening pencil control and fine motor skills. This is a great tool for beginning writers and readers!
This file includes 3 different 2 digit addition activities: Put Together Puzzles, Tens + Ones, Spin and Solve. Each fits perfectly in a photo saver box for storage making them easy to grab and go!
I was thinking of fun ways to celebrate, reflect, and commemorate the end of a school year. Shape books have been a fan favorite this year so I figured these shape writing pages could be just the thing! The file includes grades K-5 but I’m so happy to create any other grade you’d like upon request!
After developing fluency, creating meaningful comprehension comes next. But how do you do that?! Well, by reading of course! This resource is a PERFECT companion to any novel you read. It includes activities such as Word Work, Making Connections, Comparing Characters, Retelling, and a Book Review!
Practice fine motor skills, learning your name, and have FUN! This personalized activity is sure to be a hit with your preschooler! After downloading be sure to read the directions on how to get your personalized page!
Hold your place as your read AND keep track of your reading all in the same place! These adorable bookmarks fold to double as a reading log! Just cut, fold, and glue down the page to make a special bookmark perfect for May reading as we anticipate the end of our school year!
Each day on the calendar includes a small, no prep activity you can do with your littlest learner. From counting shapes around the house to singing a song or putting shoes in order, this resource is a great way to add just a touch of intentionality to learning together at home with toddler/early preschoolers. The file also includes images of a few of our favorite spring picture and board books!
The most exciting and highly anticipated resource this month is the first volume of Decodable Books!
These black and white readers are perfect for beginning readers building fluency! Each book focuses on one short vowel sounds and includes several sight words as well. Each book lists the total number of words in the story, how many short vowel words and how many sight words. This file includes 5 different 10 page books. If you like this set look for additional sets coming soon. This is a growing resources. Volume 2 will be available June 1.
