Last week I shared the template to our family system. Since then, many mamas have requested to see the specific tasks I included for both maintenance and deep cleaning for each room. While ours is specific to our home and furniture (piano, bookshelves, etc) I think that the concept will probably be helpful. Here are the tasks included for the rooms in our home:
Living Room
maintenance:
vacuum rugs, sweep wood floor, dust furniture, spray/wipe mirror, spray/wipe windows.
deep clean:
wipe baseboards, vacuum under cushions, vacuum and mop under furniture, dust inside bookshelves, organize/tidy bookshelves, organize shoe bin
Dining Room
maintenance:
sweep floors, wipe table, straighten bookshelf, spray/wipe windows, wash chalkboard, dust piano
deep clean:
wipe baseboards, mop floor, wipe down all chairs and bench, wash table top with soap and water, dry table top, wipe down table legs
Kitchen
maintenance:
dishes, wipe down refrigerator, wipe off counters, wipe off front of microwave, wash out sink, take out trash. (if full), sweep floor, vacuum rug
deep clean:
wash upper cabinet and handles, wash lower cabinet and handles, wash/wipe out bottom of trash can, wash doors to small pantry, wipe out inside of microwave, clean out refrigerator (grown up), mop kitchen floor
Hallway
maintenance:
sweep floor, dust bookshelves and table, pick up things that that don't belong and put them away, spray/wipe small table, spray/wipe door handles
deep clean:
mop floor, wipe baseboards, organize bookshelf, wipe down doors, wipe down door frames
Play Room:
maintenance:
pick up and put things away, sweep floor, vacuum rugs, dust, organize bookshelf, organize sports/shoe bin, spray/wipe glass door
deep clean:
mop floor, wash dog bedding, clean bottom of kennel, wash dog bowls
Bathroom
maintenance:
empty trash, sweep floors, wipe counters, tidy towel basket, clean toilet bowl, wipe out sink, spray/wipe mirror
deep clean:
wash outside of toilet, scrub tub and shower walls, spray/wipe window, mop, wipe baseboards, wipe down cabinet, dust plants
Bedroom
maintenance:
make beds, clear extra things off beds, pick up things on floor and put them away, sweep, dust, organize closet
deep clean:
wash bedding, spray/wipe windows, mop floor, wipe baseboards, refold and organize drawers
Of course, each home will look slightly different but these are a few ideas based on the specific system we use in our family. I hope it's helpful!
