December 2023 Collection

December 1, 2023

Hello Christmas School!

December is here which means, it’s time for CHRISTMAS SCHOOL! We love this time of year for so many reasons. Making school work extra special and fun (while maintaining our academic goals) is just my favorite! These activities are part of the growing Christmas collection of resources. You can find all of my Christmas activities here:

Festive Flashcards

These basic math facts are foundational for math thinking and problem solving. Made festive with a  colorful Christmas theme, these cards are sure to make math extra special this holiday season!

Reading Log Bookmark

Reading log bookmarks are back this month but with a fun and cozy Christmas theme! Use them to hold your space and to track your reading through the month. Color in a gingerbread head for each book you read, 15 minute block of time you read, or whatever increment you decide on!

Procedural Writing Project

This writing project is perfect for beginning writers. In this resource your student will learn about and practice procedural writing. He/she will think through the process of cookie baking and write with details how to complete that process. This simple and gentle project is not only festive and fun but perfectly intentional too!

Christmas BINGO

This one is just for FUN! No reading skills necessary! Practice cutting skills and build your own individual BINGO boards! This is such a fun and festive way to celebrate and PLAY! Perfect for a kids table at your Christmas celebrations! We LOVE it and hope you will too!

Christmas Emergent Readers

The best things about these emergent reader books is that each book is personalized just for you!  Some children are ready for more or less than others. Fill in the child’s name (of have them write their name) on the cover page. Be sure to color and decorate that cover page!  The handwriting line is for the child to practice copying, strengthening pencil control and fine motor skills. This is a great tool for beginning writers and readers!

The file includes three books: My Christmas Tree (a counting book), I Like Christmas, and Jesus Jesus Who Do You See (a play off of Brown Bear, Brown Bear).

Christmas Word Family Tree

For Christmas school this year we’re going to zoom in on word families! In this activity learners will add a star with a word family ending at the top of the tree. On the blank ornament spaces your learner will add words that belong to the word family. How man you think of and write? I laminated our page so that we can easily write on it, wipe it off and add a new star to try a new word family.

Christmas Present Puzzles

Making problem solving a little more festive and fun! This resource requires learners to use the available information to conclude what the missing information is. The file includes 2 additional puzzle pages and 2 subtraction puzzle pages.

Festive Fine Motor Fun

Coloring and cutting is so much fun! This activity takes fine motor skills to the festive level. The file includes activities to color and cut in two different sizes for learners in different stages. We plan to color, cut, and laminate the smaller images to make them into ornaments for the kids’ tree!

Gift Tag Math Review

This is a fun “center type” activity. There are three different skills to practice in this file – coin recognition, shape recognition, and expanded form. The idea is to give a variety of options for various ages and stages of learning.

Gingerbread Prepositions

Prepositions can be tricky words to understand. I created this activity after I introduced prepositions to my children and saw they had a difficult time understanding the concept without a physical representation of what it means to show spatial relationships. In the activity learners will use the mini gingerbread to show the relationship to where he is compared to the gingerbread house.

Twelve Days of Christmas Writing

The traditional 12 Days of Christmas song was too fun not to put into handwriting practice!  The coloring and handwriting/tracing page set is a perfect little booklet to use for handwriting practice during Christmas School season! If you love this set look for the cursive edition coming soon!

Christmas Mystery Picture

Perfect for your favorite subtraction problem solver! These puzzles are a lot of fun. Each activity includes two pages.  One page with equations and a separate page with images. Learners will solve the equations and cut out/glue on the image with the solution number. The file includes 4 different subtraction puzzles that are sure to make math magically fun for Christmas School!

Christmas Puzzle Pack

Very similar to very popular Thanksgiving pack is the Christmas Puzzle Pack. It’s ideal for a little extra holiday fun. The file includes 6 brand new puzzle activities including: count + color, connect the dots, word search, color by number, Christmas tree maze, and a Christmas word puzzle! There’s something for everyone of all ages and stages.

Christmas Carol Mystery Message

This JOYFUL set of math puzzles is a quick way to make addition festive and fun! Learners will solve the equations and use the solutions to decipher a hidden message. Each page has clues to a classic Christmas carol. It’s so fun, you may be singing your way through Christmas School math!
