Heart Word Mapping

Print the Word Map page and either laminate it or drop it into a dry erase pocket. Cut out the heart word cookies. Place one on the Word Map page and map it out by tapping out the sounds, writing the sounds, spelling it correctly, and using it in a sentence.

The idea behind word mapping is to create a physical representation for phonemes (letter sounds) and graphemes (letters.) Tapping out the sounds and identifying them will not only expand phonemic awareness but it will develop spelling skills as well.
